SplishSplash Spun! (2017)

IMG_0275-small

Fibre: Loop “Splish Splash” colourway on Merino, Bamboo, Tussah Silk fibre (packaged as 4.7oz).
Yarn: ~140yds sock weight (1.9oz); ~139yds DK weight (2.4oz); both were chain-plied
Method: Wheel spun with long draw
Completed: February 20, 2017.

Chain-plying was the obvious tactic given that the bump was “pull from the centre” and the colour layers made long transitions.  The fibre itself was a narrower strip than I’m used to, so I used a larger whorl (less twist, more tug).  Once I got used to that, it worked very nicely in long draw.

I did not intentionally make 2 different thicknesses — I just got more refined with my drafting as I went along, and the second bobbin was finer.
