I had spun the yarn thinking \u201csocks\u201d, and then decided a 2-ply really wasn\u2019t going to be a sturdy enough yarn for socks. Brought the yarn with me on travel, and started thinking about hats (since I\u2019d left mine behind and missed it).<\/p>\n

This is largely \u201cRibbed for His Pleasure\u201d, a simple beanie pattern for a man\u2019s hat. I didn\u2019t do the ribbing throughout, because I wanted to see the yarn and its color evolutions in stockinette. I left 8 rib channels throughout, and started bringing in the other channels gradually (4 rows and then adding the next) to make a step process. When I had 4 rows of all-ribbing re-established, I started the crown. I did all of that with the thinner 2-ply I had made.<\/p>\n

At the crown, I used the purples-chain-ply for 6 rows (and then I ran out). 6 rows of the thinner 2-ply and then a few 6 rows of the yellows-chain-ply, before finishing out with the thinner 2-ply. It\u2019s not so obviously striped, because the 2-ply includes some of the same fibre as the purples and the yellows (a strand of each, in fact).
