I always like Briggs & Little yarn — it’s very much wool, and therefore slightly scratchy.\u00a0 But, it has really great “bounce”, and it knits up into something light and warm and sturdy.<\/p>\n

Something odd occurred here, though — the post-project row gauge is different from what I had gotten in my test swatch (which also had been washed and dried before measuring).\u00a0 This means the jacket is 2 – 3″ shorter than it should be.\u00a0 I do think it would be better at the original length.\u00a0\u00a0 Oddly — I don’t think the sleeves shortened as much.\u00a0 I’ll have to see if re-washing and blocking more carefully (to stretch the length) helps at all.<\/p>\n

Also, if I had it to do again, I would probably not keep the exaggerated flare at the bottom of the sweater (at least, not unless I had a very drapey yarn and expected it to just … drape).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
