{"id":98,"date":"2009-01-04T20:43:07","date_gmt":"2009-01-05T01:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/blog\/2009\/01\/04\/truly-fowl-holidays\/"},"modified":"2009-01-04T20:43:07","modified_gmt":"2009-01-05T01:43:07","slug":"truly-fowl-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/blog\/2009\/01\/04\/truly-fowl-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Truly Fowl Holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It started innocently enough, with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/blog\/2008\/11\/28\/duck-a-la-something-or-other\/\">duck<br \/>\nthing<\/a>, and slid right along with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/blog\/2008\/12\/25\/roasted\/\">roast turkey<br \/>\nchallenge.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then there was the <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">choux<\/span> done<br \/>\nproper-like:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 667px;\" alt=\"choux\" src=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/BlogHTML\/2009\/FowlHolidays\/IMG_0989-blog.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>to accompany the rock cornish hens (stand ins for <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">perdrix<\/span> this year):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 375px;\" alt=\"cornish\" src=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/BlogHTML\/2009\/FowlHolidays\/IMG_0995-blog.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(There is cabbage in there, between the hen-halves &amp; the toast<br \/>\npoints:&nbsp; trust me!).<br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nFinally, for good measure, some <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">coq<br \/>\nau vin<\/span> to round things out.&nbsp; This was done <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/alton-brown\/coq-au-vin-recipe\/index.html\">a<br \/>\nla Alton Brown (Good Eats)<\/a>.&nbsp; I had to hold it over a day, so I<br \/>\nbrought the components out of the fridge:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 375px;\" alt=\"componentns\" src=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/BlogHTML\/2009\/FowlHolidays\/IMG_1098-blog.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nand mixed them together, to heat:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 375px;\" alt=\"purple chicken!\" src=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/BlogHTML\/2009\/FowlHolidays\/IMG_1104-blog.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mmm!&nbsp; Purple chicken!&nbsp; Doesn&#8217;t get much better than that \ud83d\ude09<br \/>\n.&nbsp; Really, the chicken is cooked in that picture; the 2 bottles of<br \/>\nPinot Noir (Trapiche) had something to say about the colour, though.<\/p>\n<p>Heated up and served, it was perhaps more appealing:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 375px;\" alt=\"served\" src=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/BlogHTML\/2009\/FowlHolidays\/IMG_1105-blog.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nAnd, that&#8217;s that!&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>What?&nbsp; What other thing?&nbsp; Oh, <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">that<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 375px;\" alt=\"cake\" src=\"http:\/\/www.knitbot.org\/BlogHTML\/2009\/FowlHolidays\/IMG_1102-blog.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A little spot of&nbsp; Doris Greenspan&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recipezaar.com\/Dressy-Chocolate-Loaf-Cake-343879\">&#8220;Dressy<br \/>\nChocolate Loaf Cake&#8221; <\/a>never went amiss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It started innocently enough, with the duck thing, and slid right along with the roast turkey challenge.
