Overall, a fun knit, and a nice result. There are some nice design elements — like the collar, with proper points! There were some significant challenges along the way — some introduced by myself (overthinking yarn quantities) and some by the yarn itself (I’m still not used to superwash).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I bought the kit at Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival in 2011. I didn’t get around to it for years. When I went to look at the kit bag, I observed there was extra yarn. Reading the instructions and quantity of yarn called for to make the size I wanted, the kit didn’t seem to include enough yarn for the size (it did; whatever the instructions said). I mixed and matched between the original colours, and the lighter shades I had bought. I’m happy to have a unique colourway \ud83d\ude42 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measuring as I went — it seemed the right size, as compared to a fleecy jacket that fits well. But, when I tried it on … sleeves were waaaay too long. Like 4″ too long, over my hands. I set it aside, as we were going to be away for a while. While away, I realized I hadn’t blocked them, so I soaked and dried the sweater on return after the summer. Now EVERYTHING too long! I stuffed it under my desk again for some more months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, given the choice was chuck it out or chuck it in the dryer… soaked it, threw it in the dryer on low, and voila. Sleeves are still a little too long, but maybe not more than any sweater where I knit them a bit too long. I’m calling this a success and calling it done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think I’m not a fan of superwash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
