Glacier Sunrise<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><br \/>\nYarns:<\/span>\u00a0 Homestead 8\/2 Cotton<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Method:\u00a0<\/span> Weaving<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Completed:<\/span>\u00a0 December 17, 2011.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>These are the second thing off my 8 shaft Schacht Baby Wolf loom.\u00a0 I got <a href=\"http:\/\/halcyonyarn.com\/products\/Kits\/1520011K.html\">the kit from Halcyon Yarn<\/a> in order to have something with which to gain weaving experience, without having to make design decisions.\u00a0 I simply don&#8217;t have the experience to be able to plot out the many variables in design, and I found I was stalling starting any new project because of that.<\/p>\n<p>These were woven with Homestead 8\/2 Cotton, 402 ends at 20epi sett (doubled up in a 10 dent reed) &#8212; 20&#8243;wide, on the loom.\u00a0 Per instructions,\u00a0 I wove them to 30&#8243; plus 1.5&#8243; hem on either end (33&#8243;).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Off the loom, hemmed and washed, they shrank to approx 14.5&#8243; wide and 22&#8243; long.\u00a0 That&#8217;s <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">a lot<\/span> of shrinkage!\u00a0 But, they are nice, squishy towels.<\/p>\n<p>Following advice on the Internet, I did not do the hems in plain weave, but just did them in waffle weave (plain weave would flare more, apparently).<\/p>\n<p>I thought I was running out of light blue cotton, so I put stripes in that towel.\u00a0 The project was spread out over several months between measuring the warp, dressing the loom, doing the weaving, and then hemming and finishing them.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All of that to say that I had <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">forgotten<\/span> there was another mini cone of blue cotton in the kit box.\u00a0 Sigh!\u00a0 Stripes are good.<\/p>\n<p>I would definitely do these again &#8212;
