These are my standard socks — toe up, following Wendy’s Toe-Up pattern, and Cat Bordhi’s Riverbed Arch expansion\/plain heel. \u00a0 I used Barbara Walker’s “Welting Fantastic” pattern (from “A Treasury of Knitting Patterns<\/span>“) for the ankle, done on a multiple of 10 stitches.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I chose this to get some rippling into the pattern, breaking up the yarn striping.<\/p>\n I was astonished to run out of yarn before completing the second sock!\u00a0 There are 450yds per skein of this yarn;\u00a0 I usually use less than 300 for a pair of socks for myself, and these were not shaping up to be unusually tall.\u00a0 I must have been knitting much more densely than usual.<\/p>\n In retrospect — the yarn from the sample might<\/span> have been enough to make the diff to finish the second sock on original plan, but it’s not clear.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Pattern:\u00a0 Usual sock hybrid Yarn:\u00a0 Pagewood Farm Chugiak, (approx 420 yds) Method:\u00a0 Hand knitting Completed:\u00a0 June 8 2010.
