This is wide enough that I guess I’d call it a stole, not a scarf.\u00a0 Finished measurements are 12 7\/8″ wide by 65 1\/2″ long (exclusive of fringe).<\/p>\n

For a first weaving project (design and execution!),\u00a0 I’m pretty pleased with the results.\u00a0 That said, there were some pretty serious “learning opportunities” afforded in both the design and the execution phases!\u00a0\u00a0 First and foremost — I really should have done a sett\/epi test.\u00a0 I was aiming for 12 ends per inch and 12 picks per inch, but it came out more like 13 and 16, respectively.\u00a0 The latter varied a fair bit as I experimented through the weaving — so there are some pretty “unbalanced” patches in the work.\u00a0 Also, the “blocks” of plain and basket weave are too small to really be noticeable.\u00a0 I should have planned something more striking in the actual sett (i.e., this patterning was too fine?) or at least made the blocks bigger — more ends, more picks.<\/p>\n

But, the yarn was awesome, especially the Handmaiden cashmere & silk!\u00a0 Though it didn’t “stick” very well to itself, causing some pretty un-straight lines in the weaving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
